Week of Workouts

I’m just 1 person trying to get stronger. Unlike a friend of mine who is the strongest woman I know, I am a weakling. Sure, I can pick up my cats for a snuggle and haul a 40lb bag of their cat litter up or down a flight of stairs when necessary. I can box up a few hundred books and carry them to my car to give them away at a book festival. I have even been known to assemble an IKEA display cabinet or three on my own and get them up and into place. But when it comes to real muscles, I’m still working on those.

So when Ranier says “grab your heavier weights” I stuck with my 4lb weights through the whole workout instead of switching. I know my capabilities and am working up to heavier ones. There’s no shame in that, because that’s what is challenging to me. And the next time I do that workout, maybe I’ll switch to my 5lb or 7lb weights when he tells me to go heavier.  One thing I love about my weighted gloves is that it allows me to add 1lb per hand to any of my workouts to step up the difficulty just a little bit.
